“I have two that make the list right off the top of my mind! One of my favorites was at the Waco zoo! The guests had the opportunity to feed giraffes, go on a safari walk and dine Alfresco! The most gorgeous florals were on the tables! The second one was on April Fools Day! During the ceremony, the groom “Faked” that he had lost the ring and started pulling out fun props out of his pockets, a fuzzy monkey, a jump rope and a feather boa! It was a riot. Later on during the reception, it was time for the garter removal. He pulled out the biggest sized undies we had ever seen, it was a hit!”

“Our particular favorite wedding was a beautiful beach wedding in the fall in the Hamptons. It wasn’t just that it was gorgeous, which it was, but that the whole wedding day was so joyful and the spirit that permeated the day was just so sweet. The bride was very unconventional and wore a very modern gown, but there were also quirky touches like the yellow school bus the bridal party rode in to the ceremony and the donuts served instead of wedding cake.”

“While almost every one of the many weddings I have photographed are interesting in their own way, I haven’t been fortunate enough to photograph any outrageous wedding…yet.”

“There have been so many fun times — I can’t pick just one! At a wedding I shot in CA, the couple asked if they could run into the ocean during their portrait session, so of course I said, “Yes, please!” (Disclaimer: the bride’s dress was light enough and the water was shallow enough that she wouldn’t get sucked out with the tide–safety first, kids.) Another couple rented bicycles for their guests, and they had a “bicycle parade” from their ceremony to their reception (yes, the bride rode a tandem bike for several miles in her heels and gorgeous, ballgown-cut wedding dress!). In Spain, the couple had Flamenco dancers perform during their cocktail hour and a belly dancer during their rehearsal dinner. It was such a rare treat for this Texan!”

“I honestly haven’t had anything that crazy happen. One of the craziest though was when I was shooting an outdoor wedding and it stormed like crazy the whole day. I’m talking about one of those massive spring storms in Texas. There was no ‘Plan B’ to hold the wedding anywhere but inside, so the whole day was very much on a whim. It’s one of the most memorable weddings I’ve had!”

“In the last year, I’ve been blessed to photograph a few cultural weddings. It’s so interesting to learn about how different cultures perform their ceremonies, or how they have certain rituals in their receptions. For example, I photographed a reception last year with a Lion Dance, and I was glowing with excitement at how vibrant and electric it all was!”
