Looking for ideas on how to save money on wedding flowers? We asked some of the best wedding planners in Niagara-Hamilton for their advice. Here’s what they recommended:

“Repurposing! I always encourage my clients to reuse florals from one space to another. Taking the aisle marker florals from the ceremony, and using them on the tables during cocktail hour is just one example. Using the altar arrangements from the ceremony as decor in the reception is another. It’s a great option to keep your florals budget friendly, without compromising on the quality of your pieces.”

“Couples have to decide where they want to focus their money when it comes to flowers and re-use the pieces where they can. If you have a beautiful space for the ceremony, consider putting the floral dollars from the ceremony into your centerpieces. If you do have florals at the ceremony, definitely ensure they can be re-used in the reception space. Think about your day and where your guests are spending the most time. Will they notice there was no arrangement on the receiving table beside the guest book they only walked by for 5 seconds? Probably not. Do you need arrangements in the bathroom? Probably not. Spend the money strategically!”

“Flowers can eat up a lot of your budget, however, choosing flowers in-season and local are always a great start. Finding flowers that do not require shipment will save you quite a bit of money. Also, use larger blooms in your centrepieces as well to achieve a full look without having to buy so many stems. There are alternatives to fresh flowers as well depending on the look you are aiming to create. Use lots of greenery, twigs, feathers and more to fit your theme and save!”
