How Far in Advance Should You Book a Wedding Photographer? (part 1)
Advice from some of the best wedding photographers in Dallas
We asked some of the best wedding photographers in Dallas how far in advance you should book a wedding photographer:
“As soon as you have a date and a venue, get that photographer booked! Many of us are booking out a year in advance, so the earlier, the better! Especially if you’re wanting multiple sessions before the big day, booking early gives you plenty of time to get all those photoshoots in.”
– Dallas Wedding Photographer Cortnie from Cortnie Dee Photography

“Depends on what month you are getting married but the popular months (June, September, October) are 1 year to 18 months in advance to get the vendor you love.”
– Dallas Wedding Photographer Laura from Fairy Tale Photography

“I always tell my clients as soon as you know your date then contact your favorite vendors immediately. Vendors may be booked from 6-18 Months in Advance to assure their services & availability.”
– Dallas Wedding Photographer Audrie from Sweet Memory Photography

“A year to a year and a half out.”
– Dallas Wedding Photographer Trish from BeatBox Portraits

“There are no rules for that. You can book one week ahead if you have to, but most couples book their photographer six months to a year ahead of the scheduled wedding date, and there are only so many weekend in a wedding season. So couples will be competing over their desired photographer’s time. If your heart is set on a specific photographer, book them as soon as you can.”
– Dallas Wedding Photographer William from William Bichara Photography

“Right after they book their venue is an excellent time to start contacting photographers and getting that squared away. In my experience, couples book about 7-8 months out on average. That gives couples plenty of time to schedule their engagement session and mail out Save the Dates.”
– Dallas Wedding Photographer Christy from Christy Archibald Photography

“Ideally I would say a year in advance. That allows time for scheduling engagement photos and bridal images, and also gives us time and opportunity to get to know the couple and to best meet their needs. However that isn’t always possible of course and if we are available on their date we will work to accommodate any timeframe.”
– Dallas Wedding Photographer Tamytha from Tamytha Cameron Photography

“About a year.”
– Dallas Wedding Planner Christie from Azure Photography

“Most of my couples book with me about 7-8 months in advance.”
