Why do couples love working with you?
Their wedding day is theirs and that’s what I want to capture. It’s important to me that they’re comfortable and enjoying their day and that translates to better pictures and great memories. I think couples love me because they sense my commitment to them and my desire to see them.
What do you love most about being a wedding photographer?
I love getting to know the bride and groom. Spending time with them before the wedding and finding out about the things that make them unique and special. Then on the wedding day, I work to capture those qualities so that they’ll see in pictures the way that they feel about each other.
How did you get started?
I have loved taking photographs ever since I can remember. The first step to pursuing it was building a darkroom in my apartment and spending my weekends photographing neighbors in Park Slope. A few years later, I started taking pictures at my son’s school for various events and after seeing my work they hired me to do their promotional materials. From there, I began doing parties, mitzvahs and weddings on a regular basis. It’s been a dream come true for me.
What 3 words best describe your wedding photography style?
Candid, Spontaneous, Alive
What budget range do you cater to?
We had Elana do our engagement photography and she blew us away. We had all our friends and family contacting us telling us how great the shots were and so we immediately booked her for our wedding day. For our wedding, she found us a second photographer and was always so quick to respond to our emails. She carefully scheduled the day’s events & photography, collaborated with the second photographer to make sure one was taking formal, posed shots while the other got the candid shots and she kept scouting out new spots all over the venue for creative photos. She was kind, professional and she was always right there when someone wanted a photo–I honestly don’t know how she was possibly in so many places at once! She is an incredibly talented photographer and a hard worker. I cannot recommend her services enough!

We used Elana for our daughter’s recent wedding and words cannot fully express how exceedingly happy we were with everything Elana did to make the day even more special and stress-free. We knew Elana would be amazing from viewing her portfolio and interviewing her in advance, but we were still blown away by her charm, her friendly and accommodating personality, her intelligence, conscientiousness and her amazing creativity. The pictures of the wedding are truly spectacular; Elana captured all the various emotional, public and private moments of the whole day from early morning to late night. Elana can do any type of photograph you want. She does natural, impressionistic and creative photographs (daughter wanted those), gorgeous detail pictures, traditional portraits and If you want photos of guests at their tables (husband wanted a number of those), she is more than happy to comply (most photographers we interviewed, who do the creative, natural shots, really balked at table shots). When the wedding day is over, she is the ultimate professional, completing all the editing in an extremely timely fashion. A friend who saw Elana work at our daughter’s wedding is now using her for her own daughter’s upcoming wedding. I highly recommend Elana Goodridge, an award-winning, expert photographer with a fantastic personality and work ethic.
Elana was simply wonderful! We had an unusual event with multiple locations across different dates and she was very accommodating. She even turned around a full video and set of photos between one event (Monday) and the next (Saturday). The video was perfect and the photos are fantastic. Also, I’m pretty sure she’s captured the best photo of me in my entire life. It’s STILL my Facebook profile pic. 🙂
