I have been serving families for nearly two decades with integrity, professionalism, and experience. My goal has always remained the same. To serve a family with exceptional customer service and to surprise them whenever I can.
Editor’s Note: for this Best Wedding Photographers in Charlotte Spotlight, we had the pleasure of interviewing Chris, from Photoplay Photography.
Where have you been featured?
I have had the privilege of being featured in most of our local trade and state magazines and our local news. I’ve been acknowledged several times on wedding sites such as WeddingWire and Wedding Photo USA but I’m most proud whenever a bride takes the time to share their photos on social media. That’s truly special because it means they are proud of their pictures. It’s a personal advertisement and I smile every time I see one of my pictures as their profile picture.
Why do couples love working with you?
That’s a great question because I feel like it’s the most important quality to bring to wedding photography. You can be educated in all the technical aspects of photography and lack that interpersonal relationship that makes a couple feel totally relaxed and at ease. I think my couples have chosen me in the past not just for the skills I bring but for the ability to understand their needs, communicate what is feasible and realistic and to relate to them as a friend, a hired professional and their personal advocate to get the photos they have their hearts set on.
What do you love most about being a wedding photographer?
I’ve had the honor to be a part of one of the most special, intimate experiences families’ can share for nearly 2 decades. When I look back on those faces I am humbled because I know that I was privileged to capture their memories for them. Not only that, I was front row center to that union. That’s special. It’s not a job for me. It’s more like a ministry and I am so fortunate.
How did you get started?
I began my career after serving in the Army and in Public Safety as a firefighter and police officer. It seems like a stark contrast but it really requires the same approach to your work. Wedding photography requires the same calm and patient demeanor. It requires the same poise. It requires the same command of a situation. I apprenticed and studied and eventually started working on my own. This past October I shot my 1000 wedding.
What 3 words best describe your wedding photography style?
My company’s tagline is Contemporary Yet Timeless. That’s always been an important aspect of my work. I want to remain informed of the latest trends but not be defined by them. I need to stay contemporary yet my work should reflect a timeless look that can not but for the details be dated.
What budget range do you cater to?
I have a pricing list that covers a range of options and packages but I really try not to let budget constraints control the way I work. I never started out to cater to only one type of clientele. I’m really no respecter of that business model. I would have missed out on working for some really wonderful couples over the years if I let money be the defining factor for my work.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Chris. She did an absolutely amazing job at our wedding. My husband hates getting his photo taken but her and her assistant did such a great job at making him feel at ease. They were so great with the whole wedding party, everyone loved both of them. They got such a great variety of shots for us (posed, candid, silly, serious, etc.). They were patient, calm and fun. I never felt rushed. It was pouring rain the whole day of my wedding but Chris still managed to get a lot of really pretty photos for us even though I wasn’t able to get my outdoors shots as planned. She was very creative and patient in dealing with the rain etc. She also took her time to make sure she got all of the photos on my list, some of which were very large family group shots. She also got an amazing amount of candid shots, which were some of my favorites. She got us our photos and prints very quickly after the wedding. She also worked patiently with me afterward to do some additional detailed edits to a few photos and they came out so good. I am so glad that we chose Chris as our wedding photographer, thanks to her we have beautiful photos to remember our special day.
I am beyond pleased that my planner linked me up with Chris. She made my husband and I feel so comfortable with her. From the engagement pictures to the wedding photos, she was absolutely amazing. I am so happy we booked her for our wedding. She captured so many moments and I was so surprised about the number of photos that were taken. She got EVERYTHING!!!!! Chris was professional and ON TIME!!! She went above and beyond to make sure that my day was PERFECT!! There are not enough thank you’s in the world I can give her to show my gratitude and appreciation for a job well done!!! Her prices are incredibly reasonable. For everything I received, I expected to pay a lot more!!! Would definitely book her again for our maternity photos (in the future) and refer her to anyone looking for a GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER TO PIECES!!!!
I would highly recommend Photoplay Photography to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. My husband and I had such a pleasant and flawless experience with the owner, Chris, and her team! She is so genuine and makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera! Our engagement photos and our wedding photos were amazing, classic, and PERFECT in every way! Every detail was captured and after your event, you are given all of your photos in both a digital and hard copy! Photoplay Photography is very professional and they even traveled to accommodate my wedding. I recommend this photographer with great confidence and can assure you that you will be in great, caring hands!
