What types of weddings do you specialize in?
Out of the box events in non-traditional venues!
Why do couples love working with you?
We have a solid reputation based on experience (over 13 years!), heart and creativity. We are a large team, though each client has a single point of contact to develop a rapport and relationship with.
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
Guiding people through the process! Offering support, being a cheerleader, problem-solving, as well as being creative and organized.
How did you get started?
I began my business in 2003. I have a background in marketing, advertising and public relations and felt this was a natural progression. I come from a large family, and love organizing gatherings. Social media wasn’t around quite yet, nor were wedding blogs. I advertised my services for free on Craigslist. The first three clients were thrilled, and I asked them to tell a friend. Word of mouth took hold!
What budget range do you cater to?
What typically happens at the beginning of the process when someone contacts you?
A phone or in-person consultation to see if we are a good fit. We love to hear our client’s love story and hear what will be important to them on their wedding day. Finally, understanding their expectations of how a planner can help support them.
Melissa Barrad of I Do Weddings was an amazing wedding coordinator!! I worked with Melissa for about a year and a half planning my wedding, and she was great in all stages of the process. Not to mention, I felt like she was a steal considering all the things she took care of for us! While we were planning our wedding I was extremely busy finishing up graduate school and moved up to L.A. 4 months before the wedding. There is no way we could have taken care of all the things we needed to do without Melissa. We had an intercultural wedding (I have an Indian background and my husband has a German background), and Melissa did a really great job of finding vendors (caterer, DJ, florist etc.) that could accommodate both of our backgrounds and traditions. From the beginning, Melissa was influential by suggesting a venue (Scripps Forum) for the wedding which turned out to be perfect for us since we both worked and met near the location. Most importantly, Melissa did almost all of the work to help us set up appointments with vendors, let us know our next task in the planning process, and keep us updated with our budget and task list which she also helped us create. The month of the wedding was unbelievable. Melissa set up detailed schedules for all of the events, she contacted all of the vendors to make sure they received their payments and scheduled any final meetings, she took all wedding related things off our hands (votives, programs, name cards, welcome bags, etc.). She even picked up last minute items for us and put together and delivered centerpieces for our rehearsal. The day of the wedding, Melissa was there the whole time and coordinated everyone and everything. She also delivered all of our gifts and any items back to our hotel so our family or we didn’t have to worry about it. Melissa helped us execute exactly what we wanted for our rehearsal, the wedding, and the brunch the following day. What I appreciated most about working with Melissa was how on top of it she was when it came to communicating with me. I preferred to communicate via email, and I got prompt responses from her regarding any questions I had or any information I asked for her to look into from vendors. Her interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and great communication skills with me and my husband made her such a wonderful person to work with! I can’t say enough about how amazing the I Do Weddings team and Melissa are at what they do! We couldn’t have done it without them!!
We booked the “month of” package about 8 months before our wedding, which was in July of 2016 at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, California. We had a couple of vendors arranged before signing on with Laura, but we still had the majority of planning ahead of us. Needless to say, we were a little overwhelmed! When we met Laura for the first time, she immediately helped us by providing some recommendations for vendors and talking us through the details that needed to be covered. It also comforted us to know that she had a lot of experience working with the Forum. This along with her professional, positive, and calming personality solidified our decision to bring her on as our coordinator. For the months leading up to our wedding, Laura kept us on track with planning and made the process quite enjoyable for us. She communicated with vendors and facilitated the details, helping to ensure that all of the pieces came together seamlessly on our wedding day. She was also very quick to answer questions. My wife and I decided not to have a rehearsal ceremony or dinner, instead relying upon Laura to ensure that the pre-ceremony, ceremony and receptions events occurred according to the schedule. We were relieved knowing that she would be at our wedding and coordinating the day. Our wedding was absolutely magical, and we owe it to Laura! We also worked with Melissa Barrad from I Do…Weddings to provide our floral arrangements. Melissa was able to create beautiful and full combinations for our budget. We were very impressed by her work on our wedding day. It was readily apparent that she went the extra mile to make sure the arrangements and ceremony arch looked fantastic! Another major plus was that we could always count on a quick reply from Melissa, and she was very flexible in our requests. If you’re also looking for a florist, Melissa would also be perfect for your dream team! As others have mentioned, planning a wedding can be very challenging. There are countless decisions that need to be made and a multitude of details to consider. But if you work with Laura and Melissa, they will go beyond your expectations and help make your wedding day truly unforgettable!
Weddings happen and then MAGIC happens with Jill Hudgins. The amount of positive feedback I have to say about this beautiful human will never end… but we can start with three: 1. Sweetest human you will ever interact with. She will 100% make you feel comfortable, even when you ask really smart questions such as: “So…. what is and why do I need a seating chart” She will explain in detail and then send you a diagram. 🙂 2. On top of being such a pleasure to work with, she throws down the hammer when need be. We had 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen. She essentially had the job of herding wild cats and she did it with grace and efficiency. 3. She comes with an army of amazing referrals and references. She has been in the business and it shows. She recommends relevant vendors, with your vision and budget. Long story short, I would have been lost without Jill’s supportive nature, wedding expertise, sweet soul, and overall being the sister I never had. Thank you one million times over! It was and will forever be the perfect day!
