What types of weddings do you specialize in?

Tula Events provides Day Of Coordination, Partial Planning, Full Planning and Consultations for all types of weddings. We have planned weddings at the War Museum in Ottawa, Toronto’s Distillery District, at a private residence in Muskoka overlooking the lake, at The Alton Mill with food stations, and even a wedding spread over 2 days – one day was for the Hindu ceremony and the other day was for the Catholic ceremony.

Day of Coordination is our most popular service because clients see the value in having a wedding professional execute the details while they enjoy their special day with family and friends. We have had Day Of Coordination clients come to us with less than 2 weeks before their wedding and they are amazed that we are able to jump in and take over in such a short amount of time. With Partial Planning and Full Planning, our clients love how we personalize their wedding to reflect them as a couple but also as individuals. We are able to come up with unique and creative ideas that leave a lasting impression on guests.

Why do couples love working with you?

Tula Events is known for our high level of customer service, organization, and stylish decor designs. Our goal is to make our clients feel like they are the only wedding we are planning, even though we are busy planning other fabulous events around the City.

I have had clients tell me that they feel like they have known me for years and consider me a great friend. Our relationship doesn’t end on the wedding day. I end up planning or coordinating their friend’s and family member’s weddings which allows me to see their marriage and family grow throughout the years. It’s amazing!

What do you love most about being a wedding planner?

What I love most about being a wedding planner is seeing how relaxed and happy our clients are on their wedding day. By having my staff and I there on their big day they know that everything will be taken care of, which allows the couple to focus on what is really important which is marrying their best friend.

How did you get started?

I started Tula Events 10 years ago when I worked in the restaurant industry in Toronto. When I moved to San Francisco a few years later I helped a friend plan her wedding and then I was hooked! I loved every part of it and wanted to plan more weddings. Not too long after that wedding I moved to Calgary, where I became certified with The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada and planned my first real wedding in Canmore, Alberta, just outside of Banff. When I returned to Toronto my business really started to grow. Now I plan weddings all over Ontario in Toronto, Ottawa, Niagara, and Muskoka. And starting Fall 2015 I will be expanding to New Jersey/New York!

What budget range do you cater to?


What typically happens at the beginning of the process when someone contacts you?

First, we inform the couple if we have their wedding date available for the service they require. We then meet in person at a local coffee shop where we talk about the couples needs, wants, concerns and how they envision their wedding day. This gives the couple a chance to get to know me and to decide if I am the right match for them. I show them my portfolio and examples of budgets and itineraries that I create for clients. A package with a contract is then presented to the couple to review. Once the contract is signed the planning process begins!

Laura provided us with a comprehensive itinerary for our wedding day, calling all of our vendors in the weeks leading up to our wedding, assisting with the wedding rehearsal and organizing a venue visit with us.

Also of note, Laura built a solid rapport with our other suppliers, vendors and our minister to the point that we received praise from them on our selection of such a professional, organized and capable coordinator.

Tyler and I know that we are one of the few couples out there who can happily say that our wedding day went off without a hitch, and we owe much of that to Laura.

My husband and I began working with Laura three weeks before our wedding. We needed assistance with décor and day of execution. Needless to say we could not have gotten through the day without her. Even with such a tight timeline, Laura essentially provided and executed all the ideas for décor for the day of. The result was beautiful. My husband and I are not too fussy when it comes to décor – but Laura was able to integrate a little bit of the both of us in the final presentation. My husband is a writer and Laura cleverly incorporated books into our centrepieces. Laura stayed on budget and true to our vision.
