Our passion is designing and directing one of a kind, unforgettable occasions.
Editor’s Note: for this Best Wedding Planners in Toronto Spotlight, we had the pleasure of interviewing Kate, from Kate MacKenzie Weddings.
What types of weddings do you specialize in?
I would say my clients tend to be of the more ‘old romance’ types, I tend to do a lot of whimsical but classic style affairs. Most of my brides come from Christian backgrounds and are typical of European descent.
Why do couples love working with you?
You’d have to ask them! Lol. I would say that my clients appreciate and see a real value for the kind of relationship that we harvest – it’s a partnership/friendship more than a business relationship, as there are so many moving parts and emotions in planning a wedding. Your wedding planner is someone you should not only wholly trust AND like, but someone you can be honest with and share a holistic big-picture vision with.
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
I love being a part of a couple’s journey – and learning about them through the creative ‘details’ they use (Guestbook alternatives, special interactive activities, performances, incorporating their heritage through décor or symbolism, etc) to illustrate and enhance their day for their family and friends.
How did you get started?
For me it was always a ‘one day – I really want to be a wedding planner…’ from the time I was old enough to wear makeup, really. And then, that one day came. And it was take no prisoners or bust 😉 I have a background in skincare, colour training, office management, and studied psychology in University.
What budget range do you cater to?
I would say mid-high – but it’s not a pre-requisite, just an average based on what I charge and the types of couples that are attracted to my company.
What typically happens at the beginning of the process when someone contacts you?
After an inquiry – I will send the couple the PDF or PDFs that outline the package that best suits the level of assistance they have expressed interest in. At that time I provide the corresponding rates and then invite them to meet up for an informal information get-to-know-you session within 7-10 days if possible. Typically we find an espresso bar that is convenient for them. When entering our initial meeting, all the facts and pricing have been laid out and it’s really a more casual ‘will we click?’ session.
Thank you so much for your help and support over the last few months. You have been an amazing help to me + J throughout this whole process. I have told (and will continue to tell) everyone how amazing you are, and how lucky we were to have you. You’re the best!

Chris and I truly enjoyed our perfect wedding. Your attention to detail is remarkable, you were meant to be a wedding planner. A special thank you for sending tea to my room exactly when I really needed it! Before I met you, I had no idea what an escort card was or a processional or recessional song. You are amazing Kate, it was a pleasure and an honour to have met you. We really appreciate all you did for us!
