What types of weddings do you specialize in?
Rebecca Chan Weddings & Events specializes in planning weddings for a style-savvy couple. Meticulous planning, eye for detail and resourceful ideas are what I stand for and what I bring to couples on their wedding day. I’ve married my experience in special events, charity work, and design, allowing me to bring a contagious creative energy to every wedding I plan.
Why do couples love working with you?
Many couples like that I am not only a wedding coordinator but also a seasoned special events manager in Toronto. I bring my expertise from the special events industry to a couple’s big day, so that your wedding celebration is not only a stellar event but one that reflects your unique personalities.
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
I love being in the happiness industry. I love being able to take the stress off a couple’s hands, letting them truly celebrate their special day with their closest friends and family. I love that no wedding is the same and that every wedding is special. It’s such an honour to be a part of one’s celebration in such a personal way.
How did you get started?
I have planned events for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would boss my siblings around running their birthday parties, and I had a blast. Years later, I was known to host the biggest birthday bashes in my teenage years. A graphic design degree and event management post-grad certificate later, I was ready to take on the world.
I worked in the non-profit sector in event management for 7 years. Most recently I worked as the Special Events Manager at the Yonge Street Mission, a charity working with people living in poverty in Toronto. In this role, I even had the pleasure to host an event for Prince Charles!
In 2009, I saw a need to bring the same sophisticated planning I knew from events to a couples’ wedding day and I got certified to be a wedding planner in Canada. Since then, I have planned the most intimate occasions to the most lavish of affairs, and I’m loving every minute of it.
What budget range do you cater to?
I work with all budgets but tend to do mid-high to high-end budgets when it comes to planning.
What typically happens at the beginning of the process when someone contacts you?
When a couple contacts me, they receive a reply within one business day, usually within the hour. I set the precedence from the start that I will be attentive and provide great customer service throughout the planning process. We then discuss the package that might be best suited for them and meet in person to chat. If it is a right fit, we get started as soon as they are ready.

As a full-time working bride with a hectic schedule juggling traveling, meetings, and then a wedding to boot, I knew that I needed guidance along the way to make my wedding day vision a reality.
The most common advice I would receive from past brides was to “Enjoy the day”. This was my ultimate goal, however, how could I truly enjoy myself with my new husband and guests while at the same time ensuring that everything would run smoothly? It really did not seem possible, and so my husband and I decided that hiring a day of wedding coordinator would be the ideal option to guarantee a stress-free day.

Not only did she ensure a flawless wedding day that impressed both myself, husband and critical family, but she worked through everything with me for the entire month leading up to the wedding. Truth be told it was extremely challenging managing a demanding career and planning a wedding, but Rebecca completely stepped in to help me manage. Her and her assistant also ran our rehearsal leading up to the wedding and managed to win over our entire wedding party.
