Editor’s Note: for this Best Weddings in London Spotlight, we had the pleasure of interviewing London wedding planner Rebecca, from High Gloss Weddings.
Where have you been featured?
High Gloss Weddings is a Wedding Industry Expert Award winner in 2013 voted the “Best New Wedding Planner in Stratford & area” and in 2014 winning in two categories, “Most Popular Wedding Planner and Most Popular Make-up artist in Stratford”. High Gloss Weddings was also nominated for a 2014 KW Record Reader Award for Favorite Wedding Planner.
What types of weddings do you specialize in?
Weddings are what we do – We love all weddings, styles, types, themes, and we love how each couple makes their wedding their own and about their love for one another. One of our Specialities seems to be “Ontario Destination” weddings – we have worked with numerous couples that are getting married in Ontario but live out of province and even out of country. We are in the very near future working more with this and reaching out to more couples who are coming here to Ontario to be wed.

We think couples enjoy working with us because we are so passionate about what we do. We Love each and every couple we work with and are truly humbled to be a part of their special days. Rebecca comes with multiple years experience with not just planning & coordination, she is also a makeup artist and can create beautiful florals and decor. High Gloss Weddings is a one stop for all your weddings needs, and we think our couples appreciate dealing with one vendor for a range of services. We come with an arsenal of supplies & tools and can jump in at a moments notice to handle any situation. We hear on a regular basis “WOW! you really do have everything!”
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
As wedding planners, we love being a part of each of our couples’ special day. As a team, we truly enjoy all the meetings, planning sessions, and guiding them through the entire process. We love being there on the wedding day to witness the vows, the kiss, and the love between our clients. We cherish every moment with them.
How did you get started?
I have always loved weddings, and my roots in wedding planning run deep. I come from a large extended family with LOTS of cousins. As a trained esthetician/makeup artist I was asked to do the makeup for the bridal party and then handed a few other jobs to assist with the day. I was more than happy to help out and make things a bit less stressful for my family on their big day, after that, I was given the title “Wedding Girl” in our family. I was constantly being told I should be a wedding planner – but was that a real job? Or just something from a movie? Fast forward a few more years my dad remarried on our family farm and I assisted in planning their simple family wedding and my passion was rekindled. I attended a Wedding Planner Institute of Canada course to become a Certified planner and not long after launched High Gloss Weddings.

At High Gloss Weddings, we welcome all couples, styles, budgets, themes, ages, genders, and even destinations!
What typically happens at the beginning of the process when someone contacts you?
From the first contact email, we discuss the wedding details – date, location, style/theme, approx guest count, etc. We will then forward over a preliminary questionnaire and set up an initial meeting whether in person or via phone or Skype if clients live at a distance. We go over the questionnaire and discuss any holes that need to be filled, and then how HGW can be a part of their Big Day! After the meeting we forward a meeting re-cap outlining everything that we discussed and any quotes or contracts for review… then the FUN begins – Planning!!!
Becky constantly reminded how well I was doing, inquired about budget, and kept track of all the personal touches my fiancé and I were adding to our wedding. Becky worked with our Minister the night of the rehearsal to make sure everyone knew where they were going to go, at what speed and with whom. The day of the wedding Becky made sure everything got to the ceremony location, flower girl basket, programs, etc. she facilitated the ceremony from the back, brought me water the moment the ceremony was done (crucial on a 30 degree day) the proceeded to the reception hall and made sure everything was going well there… as a bride I hardly noticed her presence on the day of, because she was always in the back, but I am sure my mother & mother-in-law are grateful she was there because the jobs would have been assigned to them… I suggest everyone use a wedding planner, if only for the day of coordination so on your special day you are worried about enjoying and not about plugging in lights & lighting candles.

Becky made planning this wedding stress free. She pointed out all the steps necessary to accomplish what we wanted. My now husband and I took on all of the planning ourselves for our wedding but we were getting married in a location that did not have an on-site coordinator. We needed someone to organize all the vendors who would be arriving, from the caterer to the cake, to the DJ, etc since I knew I wouldn’t have time to do it all. Rebecca did an AMAZING job! The whole day went off without a hitch. She met with us ahead of time to make sure we had everything organized and then kept in touch all throughout the planning process leading up to the big day. She was so organized and thought of everything! By far the best investment I made for our wedding. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone and everyone!
