What types of weddings do you specialize in?
In any given year we plan weddings that range from extravagant to intimate, rustic to classic and everything in between, so our specialty isn’t a particular style of wedding but instead ensuring that every wedding we are part of is our client’s version of their perfect day. Many of our clients are young professionals who eschew the idea of a super traditional wedding so we enjoy the process of figuring out how to give them a unique day while pleasing their families too. Most of all, we specialize in making every wedding enjoyable, personal and fun, no matter what.
Why do couples love working with you?
We are poised and professional but we also don’t take ourselves too seriously. Your wedding is a celebration of your love so we like to keep the process fun even though the planning is a very detailed job. We are always flattered to hear from clients that we have calming, positive, creative personalities, so if we can bring these attributes to the often high stress of wedding planning this is a good thing. We have great ideas, creative solutions and at the end of the day, we just really love weddings which certainly comes through in our planning.
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
We love that this job allows us to share in one of the most important days in someone’s life. A wedding is a big deal for not only the bride and groom, but their families, and we take great responsibility and pride in the opportunity to ensure that our clients truly enjoy their wedding without stress. We love the ability to design and create and with this comes the honour of being entrusted to bring a client’s vision for their wedding to life. We truly have our dream job.
How did you get started?
Weddings have been a shared passion since we were children and we like to think it was fate that brought us together in the wedding planning industry. Devon worked in the travel industry and Jordan in public relations, yet we both longed for something more fulfilling which led us to wedding planning. Before Smitten Events, we were Fairy Godmother Weddings which we rebranded and relaunched in 2013. What we love most about being Smitten Events is that the brand is so very us: fun, colourful and simply smitten with love.
What budget range do you cater to?
We work with all budgets, though on average our clients’ budgets are in the mid-high range.
What typically happens at the beginning of the process when someone contacts you?
After we receive an inquiry we start off with a big congratulations, because weddings are a big deal! Upon confirming our availability we want to know as much as we can about a client’s wedding vision and any plans they have in place which can happen over email, a coffee date or a phone/Skype meeting for our out of town clients.
Our connection with a client is paramount and we can usually figure this out from our initial meeting. Once we have a great idea of how a couple would like their Planner to be involved in their day, we design a custom package just for them. Whether it be Day-of Management, a combination of services such as vendor recommendations and budget management, or a personalized Full Plan, every one of our packages is as unique as the wedding itself.
Hiring a wedding planner was hands-down the best decision that we made when planning our wedding! Jordan was an amazing help throughout the entire process. Jordan kept us organized and on time, provided amazing vendor recommendations and was our huge source of support. The day of the wedding was seamless and numerous guests commented on how organized we were. Throughout the experience, we emailed Jordan constantly and she always replied promptly with awesome advice. Our wedding turned out exactly the way we had hoped and we credit Jordan for a large part of that. We never would have made it through the wedding planning experience without Jordan and now that it is over we miss talking to her. We highly recommend Jordan and Smitten Events!

Having Smitten Events join our team was one of the best decisions we made. We hired Smitten Events for their Day-of Management service and never looked back! Being very hands-on individuals, my husband and I weren’t sure how relinquishing any sort of control would work for us. Was it really necessary given our personalities? We quickly learned that it was extremely necessary! We were still in control, making all decisions, but Devon with Smitten Events was supporting us right by our side the entire time.
There were countless items that had not even crossed our minds. Devon was consistently proactive and was there to ensure we didn’t miss a beat. The checklists were a great tool! The timeline that Smitten Events creates for the big day is so clear and easy for everyone involved to follow. Everyone, including vendors, were all on the same page and the day was able to run smoothly. The rehearsal dinner was a breeze and the entire wedding day went off without a hitch, well except for the horses indulging in the wedding cake but that adds to the memories right?!! As another reviewer noted, they seamlessly ran the show from behind the scenes. It was very obvious that it wasn’t their first rodeo! Devon and Francesca were organized, resourceful, calm, keen, helpful and available … the entire time. We could go on and on!
