What types of weddings do you specialize in?

Because we have such a dynamic group of women working within DreamGroup all with unique personalities, degrees of experience, and varying personal styles we don’t specifically specialize in one type of wedding as we are able to appeal to and accommodate all sorts of fabulous wedding visions, styles, and budgets.  We orchestrate culturally infused weddings where couples are looking to incorporate ethnic and family traditions into their modern-day wedding vision. We plan intimate weddings and understated weddings with budgets of $30-60K where the couple is looking to maximize their budget and make the most of their priorities.  We use our experience and reputation to plan more complex high-caliber weddings with budgets of upwards of $200K whereby clients are looking to maximize a grander vision and create a more decadent experience for themselves and their guests.

With a 5/5 rating on several local forums and testimonial pages, we pride ourselves and work hard to maintain our reputation in providing an attentive, modern, thoughtful, and personal planning experience for all our clients.  Our clients love us for many reasons, but the ones that stand out are in our ability to make each and every DreamGroup client feel like a priority regardless of how many weddings each planner has on their calendar. We are efficient, dedicated, and always set out to raise the bar for the industry and ourselves.  As a group, we are genuinely kind and hard working women with tremendous integrity and respect for our industry, our clients, and each other.  Because of this, we attract amazing wedding professionals and vendors that work just as hard to make our clients feel valued and important.  It allows us to extend to our clients a very enriched and hands-on style of planning from the hair and makeup and flowers through to the invitations and transportation services.

What do you love most about being a wedding planner?

DreamGroup has established itself as a creative, attentive full-service wedding and event planning company.  Our eclectic family of planners caters to all sorts of wedding styles and budgets.  Each planner has their own reason for why they love to plan weddings ranging from a desire to create a wedding experience that is better than their client could have ever imagined to a genuine love for the opportunity to be a part of a couple’s most important and romantic day of their lives!

How did you get started?

DreamGroup began in 2004 with two determined and visionary women, Genève McNally & Sarah Shore.  When we first started DreamGroup there were about a dozen professional notable planners working in the Lower Mainland (there are now over 50), no one had fancy websites, and the demand for planners was only just beginning to grow.  Our vision was to create a planning company offering an elevated level of planning attention, due diligence, logistical care, and style unlike any other the city had ever seen.  We set out to build a family of planners that not only love what we do but also happen to take it very seriously and do it very well.  Only a dedicated, reputable and experienced planner knows how good a wedding planning journey and day can be and it’s our goal to help our clients realize the potential.

What budget range do you cater to?

With experience comes a desire to command more for our efforts and our knowledge.  We are not the least expensive planning company, but we are very competitive in price point when compared to planning companies with equal experience and style. We typically charge between $5,000.00 and $12,000.00 to plan a wedding.  As a result, we tend to attract clients that have a budget that will allow them to capitalize on our experience and efforts without compromising their must-haves and needs for their wedding.  A budget itself can be considered luxury or understated within varying amounts pending the number of guests and type of wedding experience you envision.  We can plan a very intimate 30 person wedding and spend $40K creating a luxury over the top experience for that client and their guests or we can plan a 300 person sweet and thoughtful wedding for $60-80K. Our wedding budgets have ranged anywhere from $30K to over a million dollars.  It always comes down to the client’s vision and means.  Our requirement is that a client’s budget (if they have one) just be realistic and in line with the vision they have for their wedding.  We will then make the most of every penny by incorporating the right people and the right planning schedule.

What typically happens at the beginning of the process when someone contacts you?

We often start with a big THANK YOU for including us in their search for planning support as there is no shortage of planner options available in Vancouver.  We know the value and level of expertise we are able to offer, but not everyone out there can know that when they are just beginning the planning process.  The next step will be to arrange a time for a phone chat to better understand their initial needs and answer questions or we will encourage the client to visit our Meet the Planners section on the website to get to know us and each of our planners a little bit better.  Hopefully, the client finds a planner they feel connected to by looking through their testimonials, past wedding galleries, and personal Pinterest page and from there we arrange a time for them to meet at The DreamGroup Office (or someplace else that proves more convenient) to discuss their wedding vision and priorities in greater detail.  From there the planner will send out a Quote and once that’s confirmed we go to contract, obtain a 50% deposit of the planning fee, and then we are off and planning!

She planned our out of towners reception for 150 guests the night before the wedding! From directing the vendors to making sure all of our guests were loaded onto the shuttles, to organizing the bridal party and everything in between — she handled it all with a smile.
